The teams currently sitting in the two Wild Card positions in the NFC meet tonight on Monday Night Football, as the 5th-place Seahawks face the 6th-place Vikings. Neither team will drop out of playoff position with a loss in this game, but the winner will take a lead for the fifth seed.
With a morass of underachieving 6-7 teams (and one at 5-7-1) all battling for position behind these two teams, tonight feels like a game where the winner will all but lock up a postseason berth.
The Packers are that 5-7-1 team, and they need some help from the three 6-7 teams ahead of them to make this a race. But besides Green Bay’s own remaining games, the real test is seeing three more losses from one of the two teams that play tonight. The easiest route to making that happen is for tonight’s loser to drop two of their remaining three games.
Tune in tonight to see who takes a firm grip on a playoff spot and who falls back into the pack that sits squarely on the postseason bubble.
