Brian Gutekunst pulled off a trade that would make his predecessor proud, but did so with some top players on the board.

Green Bay Packers who are waiting for Brian Gutekunst’s first draft selection as the team’s new general manager will have to wait a little bit longer.

While on the clock with the 14th selection of the 2018 NFL Draft, Gutekunst orchestrated a trade back in the draft. The Packers traded back with the New Orleans Saints, moving their first selection back to pick number 27. The Saints selected defensive end Marcus Davenport with pick number 14.

The Packers will reportedly receive the 27th pick, the 147th overall pick, and the Saints’ first-round pick in the 2019 draft. According to the NFL’s draft trade value chart, the 14th pick was worth 1100 points, while numbers 27 and 147 are worth a total of 712 — but next year’s first-rounder will far outweigh the discrepancy.

Stay tuned, as the Packers will be on the clock later on tonight with their next pick. However, don’t rule out a trade back up in the first round, as the Packers have a glut of selections on day three and could package some of them to improve their stock from pick number 27.
