The offseason program is over for the Green Bay Packers, which means training camp is fast approaching. We’re almost there, people!
The Packers will hold a three-day mandatory minicamp beginning today. It will be the final time the team is together before the start of training camp in July.
The most notable thing about the minicamp is the return of safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix who missed the rest of the offseason schedule to deal with a “personal situation” per head coach Mike McCarthy. The coach said Clinton-Dix would be at the mandatory minicamp and there have been no signs that will change.
Since the minicamp is open to the public, this also gives fans their first look at defensive coordinator Mike Pettine’s new defense. No one is still quite exactly sure how Pettine will utilize players like Josh Jones so these sessions will give just a tiny peek under the cover to see what Pettine has cooked up for the season.
There’s more on the mandatory minicamp and why you might want to through that fortune away once you eat that fortune cookie in today’s cheese curds.
Four intriguing storylines to watch at Packers’ minicamp—PackersNews.com
DeShone Kizer vs. Brett Hundley will be interesting to watch over the next two and a half months. The battle commences in earnest the next three days.
What if Dez Bryant’s catch had been ruled a catch against Green Bay?—Blogging the Boys
I see what they did there with that headline. As for the theory itself, all we can say is wow. Aaron Rodgers is out of it for a little while and Cowboys fans having delusions of grandeur.
Packers WR Davante Adams dreaming of 20 TDS in 2018?—Packers Wire
Speaking of delusions of grandeur, this would really be something to watch. Only Jerry Rice and Randy Moss, two of the best to ever play the position, have ever done it. Adams is clearly a gifted receiver, but this would be tough to do especially with a red zone weapon like Jimmy Graham. Yet Rodgers is the one throwing the ball. Never say never, I guess.
Lucas Patrick eager to make his Cinderella story last—Packers.com
The battle at guard will be one to watch this summer, and you’d be foolish to count out Patrick. He should at the very least be a quality backup should he not win the starting job at right guard.
Fortune cookie numbers earn woman $100,000 prize—UPI
So do those cookies have some kind of mystical power? Good for her, though. She’s paying bills and maybe taking a cruise.
