It’s finally here! The Green Bay Packers showed up for training camp on Wednesday, but the real excitement begins today as the team begins its quest for a 14th NFL championship with the first practice of the summer.
Barring any unpleasant weather conditions, the Packers will ride bikes over to Ray Nitschke Field this morning in time to begin practicing at 11:30 AM. It’s time for position battles to get underway and for the depth chart to begin taking shape.
Every one of the Packers’ open practices this year will begin around mid-day, either starting at 11:15, 11:30, 11:45, or 12:15. Today’s is in one of the earlier of those time slots. In addition, the team’s first action under the lights this year will take place on August 4th with the annual Family Night Scrimmage — the same night as the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement ceremony. Hopefully the team has planned to show live video of Jerry Kramer’s Hall of Fame speech inside Lambeau Field when he is due to speak.
In addition, the first preseason game comes two weeks after this first practice, with the Packers hosting the Tennessee Titans on August 9th.
Tune in here and enjoy the return of Packers football!
