Packers vs. Steelers, Preseason 2018: First half game updates & discussion

Get ready for a lot of yellow in your eyeballs tonight.

NFL: Green Bay Packers at Pittsburgh Steelers Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight, the Green Bay Packers take the field for their second preseason game of 2018, hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers in a battle of players trying to make the rosters of the two legendary franchises. For Pittsburgh, the stars are sitting — Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, and Cameron Heyward will not dress for the game, and running back Le’Veon Bell is still holding out.

It’s not all bubble players on the field for the Packers, however. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has said that he expects to play tonight, and head coach Mike McCarthy indicated that it was his plan as well to get his veteran leader on the field. The question will be how much will we see of #12 and will we also see the rest of the team’s starters?

A few players we know we will see are the Packers’ young wide receivers, who largely impressed in the opener last week. Marquez Valdes-Scantling had the biggest numbers, with a five-catch, 101-yard, one-touchdown performance, while Jake Kumerow’s 52-yard touchdown reception put a bow on the game for Green Bay. Will they keep up their recent success? Click here for our Game Primer to get all the details for watching tonight’s game and tune in to find out.
