In 2015, Charles Woodson was going through his final NFL campaign. The future hall of famer played eight seasons in Oakland to start his career before making a move to Green Bay, where he played for seven years. In a Packers uniform, Woodson made four Pro Bowl appearances and earned first-team All-Pro twice, adding a Defensive Player of the Year award in 2009 for good measure. He returned to Oakland in 2013, playing three more years at safety before retiring.
This week, it’s Jordy Nelson’s turn to have a reunion of sorts with his old teammates. After ten seasons with the Packers, including his Pro Bowl campaign of 2014 when he finished fourth in the NFL in receiving yards, Nelson was released in March before signing a two-year, $14.2 million contract with the Raiders.
Also jumping from Green Bay to Oakland this year are a few assistant coaches who have taken jobs with Jon Gruden’s staff. Edgar Bennett and Mike Trgovac are in Oakland with Nelson, former Packer Jared Cook, and GM Reggie McKenzie to form quite the pipeline of ex-Packers on the West Coast.
This week, the reunion takes place in Oakland as the Packers and Raiders play in a late-night preseason contest. Here’s how to tune in.
