If you were tuning in for the Green Bay Packers-Oakland Raiders game this evening expecting to see any of the Packers’ starters on offense because it is the third preseason game, think again. All but one of the Packers’ projected offensive starters is sitting out tonight’s game, with only wide receiver Geronimo Allison taking the field tonight.
It’s no surprise that Aaron Rodgers is skipping this contest, but Mike McCarthy clearly wants to take no chances with the remainder of his first team this evening. The entire starting offensive line will take a seat, so get ready to hear the names Spriggs, Bell, Murphy, Patrick, and Day for most, if not all, of tonight’s game. In addition, wide receiver Jake Kumerow will sit out after missing all of this week’s practices.
That’s ten of eleven starters on offense out, and there are another handful of players who will not dress tonight. 18 Packers in all will be watching from the sidelines, including defensive starters Nick Perry and Mike Daniels.
One of the biggest surprises — and most disappointing names — on the list, however, is rookie linebacker Oren Burks. The third-round draft pick and projected starter next to Blake Martinez suffered a shoulder injury during warmups for the game and will be unavailable. Stay tuned to APC for more updates on Burks as we learn of them.
Here’s the long list of players who won’t be suiting up in Green and Gold this evening:

- OT David Bakhtiari
- OT Bryan Bulaga
