Packers vs. Titans Inactives: Rodgers and Bakhtiari held out of preseason opener

Green Bay will play without its all-pro quarterback again...this time as a precaution.

NFL: Green Bay Packers at Carolina Panthers Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

As the exhibition slate kicks off Thursday night for the Green Bay Packers, a total of 18 Packers will be waiting to make their 2018 debut.

To no surprise, Green Bay will protect the health of franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers in week one of the preseason after the collarbone debacle last season. Rodgers threw just 13 passes in two preseason games last year and may see a similarly limited action plan over the four-game exhibition schedule.

Another notable holdout is left tackle David Bakhtiari after an ankle injury scare during Family Night. Bakhtiari, as well as fellow offensive linemen Lane Taylor and Bryan Bulaga, will not make an appearance against Tennessee.

Meanwhile, fans will have to wait to see several of Green Bay’s highly-acclaimed newcomers in action. First round draft pick Jaire Alexander will sit out his first game at Lambeau Field, while free agent additions Jimmy Graham and Muhammad Wilkerson will join Alexander on the sidelines.
