There is good news and bad news to be found on the Green Bay Packers’ Wednesday injury report. Although the team had a few extra days off coming off a short week and a Thursday Night Football game, the Packers did practice on Monday to begin preparations for a game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. However, the team’s first injury report coincides with Wednesday’s practice, and there are reasons to be concerned as well as optimistic for week five.
On the bright side, the Packers were able to get a few notable injured players at least some work on Wednesday. Right tackle Bryan Bulaga was among them, as the veteran was listed as limited with a shoulder injury that he suffered last Thursday. Bulaga missed the entire second half of the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and was replaced by Alex Light.
Joining him as a limited participant are a pair of important players on the front seven. Linebacker Oren Burks was listed as limited, suggesting that he may be on track to return in short order from his chest injury. Also limited is defensive lineman Montravius Adams, who was out of practice all last week with a shoulder injury.
On the less pleasant side, the Packers did have five players sit out practice entirely, many doing so as a result of injuries from Thursday’s game. Davante Adams is of course the most important, as the Packers’ top receiver is likely out for the Cowboys game with a toe injury. Joining him is running back Jamaal Williams, who is in the concussion protocol, and reserve cornerback Tony Brown with a hamstring. Linebacker Kyler Fackrell also missed practice with a shoulder injury, and his availability may be a reason why the Packers acquired third-year edge rusher Tim Williams on waivers from the Ravens on Wednesday.
Of course, right when third-year cornerback Kevin King turns in one of his finest performances as a pro, he suffers an injury setback. King was also a non-participant due to a groin injury that took place very late in the game. If he cannot play on Sunday, look for more snaps for Tramon Williams and Josh Jackson, with a chance for Ka’Dar Hollman and Chandon Sullivan to get in the game for a few plays here and there as well.
Here’s the full injury report for Wednesday.
