Through five weeks of the college football season, there have been few surprises. The top teams remain the top teams and with Clemson’s narrow escape a week ago, the top six or so teams remain essentially intact from the preseason polls.
Finally, however, things could start to change in the coming weeks as more good matchups start to show up on the schedule in October. Conference play always brings out the upsets thanks to rivalries, trap games, and other unexpected surprises. This week we finally have a trio of games between ranked teams, as the Big Ten and SEC are represented with some intriguing matchups.
In the South, we have one of the early top-ten matchups of the season in a cross-divisional game. No. 7 Auburn heads East to Gainesville to take on the tenth-ranked Florida Gators on Saturday afternoon in a contest that could have significant conference title game implications.
Meanwhile, the Big Ten has a pair of games between ranked teams. In FOX’s premier early game, Iowa heads to Michigan in a battle of teams ranked in the teens, while Michigan State tries to play spoiler in Columbus against the fourth-ranked Buckeyes this evening.
Tune in for today’s games here and enjoy!
