Packers Week 9 Injury Report: Adams questionable, Chargers’ starting DTs doubtful

Davante Adams participated in practice all week and is questionable Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers

The injury news continues to trend positively in the Green Bay Packers direction. The Packers travel to Los Angeles to play the Chargers on Sunday, and they look to have every starter ready to take at least a few snaps in the game.

A lot of names appeared on the week’s practice injury reports, but every player on the list saw the practice field on Friday, even if some were in a limited fashion. The biggest news of the week was the progress of Davante Adams, who participated in practice and is listed as questionable for the upcoming game. Tight end Robert Tonyan is also listed as questionable.

Adams has missed the last few games thanks to a turf toe injury he received against the Philadelphia Eagles. This week, head coach Matt LaFleur stated that Adams will be a game time decision against the Chargers. If Adams does indeed go, he is not expected to play his usual snap count. The rest of the offense has stepped up in his absence, which means it will be smoother transition back into the offense.

On the defensive side, all of the starters participated in practice, with most of them carrying a full designation. The defense has had an up and down few weeks, but as the team continues to get healthier, the production should go up.

Names such as Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones appear on the list, but there is no indication that these injuries are hindering their chances to play. Almost half of the players on the report carried a full participation during the week.

In years past, fans have had to worry about multiple starters missing significant time, but this season is bringing the Packers good injury luck overall, and hopefully it sticks.

Players not on the report but who saw the practice field are tight end Jace Sternberger and safety Ibraheim Campbell. Both have been on injury lists since the regular season began, but would be ready to play if they were added to the 53-man roster. The most likely scenario is that both are added within the next week, with the Packers having to drop one other player off the roster to make room.

Shifting to the Chargers, defensive tackle Brandon Mebane practiced today but is listed as doubtful. The defensive line has been dealing with injuries since the start of the season, and getting him back would a big boost for the Chargers, but it looks like he will ultimately be a no go. Fellow starter Justin Jones is listed as doubtful alongside him, and would be another blow to that defensive line. The Packers offense has been feasting, and a struggling pass rush could spell disaster for the Chargers.

Keenan Allen was a full participation in practice after concern was raised again about his hamstring. It looks like he will be at full-go for the game, which could be tough for a Packers secondary that is struggling with giving up big plays.

The inactive list will be released approximately 90 minutes before game time.
