On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers will travel east to take on the New York Giants. Ed Valentine of Big Blue View kindly volunteered to answer our questions about the Giants and provide some insight into their strengths and weaknesses.

APC: Last Sunday, a report surfaced that the Giants could become a landing spot for current Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett should he become available. What do you make of his report and Garrett’s qualifications, and how do you evaluate the performance of New York’s current head coach, Pat Shurmur?

I don’t know if Garrett would be the right choice to replace Shurmur, if the Giants decide to do that. I do understand why Garrett would like the job, but many of the same game-management issues that are present with Shurmur can be found with Garrett. It’s understandable with the Giants, who lead the league in snaps played by rookies, that there will be mistakes and growing pains. The Giants aren’t a great team, but they should be better than 2-9. That falls on Shurmur and his staff. They look unprepared too often, and too often look like they don’t really understand the personnel they have. I think the Giants would like to retain him, but he’s got to show some progress and give them a reason to do that.

We’d like to thank Ed. Be sure to check out the rest of our Q&A session with Big Blue View over the course of the week as well as our Q&A session over there. As always, keep your internet machines tuned to Acme Packing Company this Sunday for our comprehensive game-day coverage of Packers versus Giants.
