Packers Week 17 Injury Report: Jamaal Williams likely to sit out regular season finale

Williams and his fullback are both doubtful for Sunday’s game.

When the Green Bay Packers take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday to finish off the 2019 regular season, they will most likely be missing one-half of their excellent running back tandem. The team ruled Jamaal Williams as doubtful for Sunday’s game at Ford Field after he suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s last game on Monday in Minnesota.

If he is indeed inactive on Sunday, Williams will finish the regular season with a career-low in rushing yards, ending the year with 107 carries for 460 yards and one touchdown. However, his 4.3 yards per carry this season is a career-high, marking the first year in his three-year NFL tenure that he finishes above four. On the other hand, Williams has set personal high marks in pass receptions this season with 39 and receiving touchdowns with five, but his 6.5 yards-per-reception average ranks as the lowest mark of his career.

Luckily, the Packers’ key players aside from Williams are largely healthy. There are a pair of other players listed as doubtful, however: fullback Danny Vitale (knee) and safety Will Redmond (hamstring). Wide receiver Jake Kumerow is questionable, being added to the report as a late addition due to an illness.

Detroit, however, is not so fortunate. Not only does the team have a long list of questionable players, but the team has also shut several critical players down for the year, placing several starters on both sides of the football on injured reserve. However, the one name on the report that does appear as out is a starter on the defensive line. Tackle A’Shawn Robinson will be shut down for the finale, joining Mike Daniels and Da’Shawn Hand (on IR) as key linemen who will be unavailable for the game. The Lions also recently placed rookie linebacker Jahlani Tavai on injured reserve, meaning that the team will be starting three backups at the three linebacker spots.

Here are the reports for both teams.
