APC Week 17 NFL Picks: Packers get first-round bye, but home-field remains a question

In week 17, the Green Bay Packers have a juicy matchup to take advantage of with a first round playoff bye on the line. A depleted Detroit Lions squad should give the Packers a very winnable game to claim at least the second spot in the conference.

Given the states of these two teams - and the differences in the number and caliber of players on their injured reserve lists - this should be a solid victory for the Packers so long as they do not overlook their division rivals. The question then becomes whether they will get some help from a team that has been a thorn in their sides this decade to help them claim home field advantage throughout the postseason.

That team is the Seattle Seahawks, who will face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football with the NFC West title on the line. A Seattle win combined with a Packers victory gives Green Bay the top seed. But will that happen, particularly given the Seahawks' hefty injury issues?

In this week's NFL picks, a significant number of our writers say yes. Whether that is wishful thinking or legitimate expectation based on Seattle being at home and having beaten San Francisco once this year, Packers fans would undoubtedly love to see it happen.

Let us know in the comments where you think the Packers will end up when Sunday's games wrap up!
