APC Week 14 NFL Picks: Saints will maintain lead over Packers for #2 seed in NFC

The biggest matchup in the conference won’t provide the Packers with help, if APC’s picks pan out.

Week 14 in the NFL isn’t really about the Green Bay Packers. They had their moment in the spotlight two weeks ago and will again in week 16, but this Sunday’s game against Washington should be a convincing Packers win — with the key word being “should.”

Instead, the San Francisco 49ers get the third game of their gauntlet, a stretch that has seen them beat the Packers and lose to the Baltimore Ravens the past two weeks. This week they are on the road again, heading to the bayou to play the 10-2 New Orleans Saints.

The Packers would benefit from a 49ers win in this game, as APC broke down earlier today in this week’s Rooting Guide. That would give the Packers a top-two seed if they win out. But APC’s contributors aren’t feeling bullish on the Niners’ chances of winning in the Superdome this week, with seven of this week’s 11 contributors picking the Saints to hold serve at home.

The Packers’ game is hardly in question, as APC picks Green Bay unanimously to improve to 10-3. But that just won’t be enough to get back into the second position if the results go as the composite predictions project.
