Packers announce dates for open OTA practices, starting May 21st

Good news, everyone! Open practices begin next week!

NFL: Green Bay Packers-OTA Milwaukee Journal Sentinel-USA TODAY NETWORK

If you just can’t wait to see the Green Bay Packers in action, then news from the team on Tuesday should have you excited for the coming weeks. The Packers begin practicing as part of Organized Team Activities next Monday, May 20th, and a press release from the team on Tuesday revealed which of those practices will be open to the public.

The team will hold one open practice in each of the three weeks of OTAs, meaning that the team’s other two practices each week will be closed to the public and media. The first open practice will take place on Tuesday, May 21st, starting at 12:05 PM local time, and practices on Wednesday, May 29th and Tuesday, June 4th will also be open for public viewing.

Each of these practices will begin at 12:05 PM and will be held outdoors at Clarke Hinkle Field, adjacent to the Don Hutson Center. This is not the typical location for public practices, however — that is Ray Nitschke Field, which has some bleacher seating. However, because of construction around that practice field, it is unavailable.

The Packers previously announced that training camp will begin on Thursday, July 25th, though a complete schedule of training camp practices is not yet public. In addition, the team’s minicamp will take place the week following OTAs; in the past, that minicamp has been entirely open to the public.

Here is the OTA practice schedule in its entirety:

  • Week one: May 20 (closed), May 21 (open, 12:05 PM), May 23 (closed)
  • Week two: May 28 (closed), May 29 (open, 12:05 PM), May 31 (closed)
  • Week three: June 3 (closed), June 4 (open, 12:05 PM), June 5 (closed), June 6 (closed)
