Your first look at the 2019 Green Bay Packers is here. This afternoon, the Packers take the field for their first open practice of the year, which comes in their second Organized Team Activities practice overall.
Today’s practice gets underway just after noon Central time from Clark Hinkle Field, and Packers media will be in attendance as well. Who will be the first-string right guard? Which players will get the first reps at slot receiver? Will Darnell Savage, Jr. be running with the first team secondary right away? We should have answers to these questions by the end of the day and although the lineup that takes the field today probably will not be the one that suits up to start week one, it will at least help establish a pecking order.
The Packers should have almost everyone in attendance for practice today. The one reported absence so far is safety Josh Jones, who is reportedly trying to force a trade out of Green Bay. Of course, the Packers typically include workout bonuses in veterans’ contracts to help ensure attendance — a little less than $6 million is on the line in those bonuses this year — but the team should be at full strength nonetheless.
As always, stay tuned to Acme Packing Company for updates, news, and analysis of all the offseason workouts as Matt LaFleur’s team begins to take shape.
