The one-year Packer faces legal trouble after an incident this weekend.

It has been a rough 12 months for Muhammad Wilkerson. After signing a one-year contract with the Green Bay Packers last spring, Wilkerson entered the 2018 season as a starter at the 5-technique defensive end position. However, right as Wilkerson was starting to come into his own early in the regular season, his campaign was cut short by injury. Now an arrest has put a damper on his 2019.

Wilkerson was reportedly arrested for drunk driving in New York City this weekend, as first reported by the New York Daily News. The report indicates that Wilkerson was pulled over after running through a stop sign, at which police realized he was impaired; a breathalyzer showed him over the 0.08% legal blood-alcohol limit.

As far as his NFL career goes, Wilkerson is an unrestricted free agent and his 2019 was on hold until he would be healthy enough to pass a physical. The broken ankle he suffered in week three last fall was a major injury, serious enough to send him to the hospital immediately after being taken from the field. This arrest will put a further damper on his chances of playing in 2019, as any NFL team looking to sign him will know that he likely faces a suspension by the league before he will be able to take the field.
