It will be another three days before the Green Bay Packers start practicing at training camp, but some of their players are already in town. New head coach Matt LaFleur will get a bit of a head start in the classroom with his most inexperienced players.
Monday is the team’s required report date for their rookie class, a deadline that comes two days before Wednesday’s required attendance date for veterans. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky notes that this is a change from Mike McCarthy’s policy, which was to have all players show up on the same day.
The next two days will likely consist of physical exams, re-orientation to the team facilities, and some meetings with coaches, all leading up to the start of practice on Thursday.
Meanwhile, several other NFL teams also have rookie report deadlines set for Monday. The Bills, Bears, Jaguars, Vikings, Giants, and Titans all have their rookies arriving today as well, and all of those teams have veteran report dates set for either Wednesday or Thursday of this week.
The Packers’ first practice will take place on Thursday, July 25th, at 10:15 AM. Click here for the full training camp schedule.
