It can technically be called football, so the NFL’s 2019 preseason is officially here. The Hall of Fame Game has arrived, bringing with it the first in a long string of largely unwatchable games for the casual NFL fan.
And yet, here we are. It has been almost six months to the day that the NFL played its last game, and with a new preseason comes a renewed sense of hope for the 31 franchises that are not the defending world champions and their fan bases. For two of them, the journey to glory or sadness kicks off in Canton this evening.
Tonight’s game won’t be a good one by most accounts. On one side, we will see either Matt Schaub or Kurt Benkert starting under center, while rookie Drew Lock is likely to take the first snaps on the other side. But football is football, even if the names are unfamiliar and the performances unimpressive.
So if you’re tuning in for tonight’s game, join us here at APC as we celebrate the return of football. Because let’s face it — what else are you going to do on a random Thursday night in the beginning of August?
