This week, the Green Bay Packers travel to the Great White North. The Packers are in Canada — Winnipeg, Manitoba to be exact — for their third preseason game. Normally, this game at this point in the preseason would indicate that Aaron Rodgers and the starters will get significant playing time, and Packers head coach Matt LaFleur indicated several days ago that the starters, Aaron Rodgers included, should expect to play the first half.
However, after the team scratched Rodgers from the lineup minutes before last week’s game in Baltimore due to back tightness, his status is in question. LaFleur said that he no longer thinks that it is a ‘necessity’ for Rodgers to suit up in the preseason, but he still hopes that it will happen. However, the team clearly feels that Rodgers needs to sit if there is even a hint of an issue.
As for the game itself, the stadium holds about 30,000 people, and due to the significant cost of changing a field over from Canadian football dimensions to those of the American version of the sport, that has come with increases in ticket prices. Indeed, most tickets are still around $100 on the secondary market, but game planners still expect to see a mostly-full stadium at kickoff.
