Packers 2019 Roster Cuts: Tracking the cuts from 90 to the 53-man roster

Cornerback Jacquez Kalili was the first player down.

On Friday and Saturday of Labor Day weekend, NFL teams whittle their rosters down from 90 players, eventually reaching the NFL’s regular season limit of 53. The deadline to do so is at 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday, and Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has plenty of difficult decisions to make.

Throughout the weekend, Acme Packing Company will keep Packers fans updated with all the news about players being released, being told they have made the initial 53-man roster, and eventually making the practice squad, where applicable.

One sure thing so far is that Lane Taylor will be the starter at left guard. Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that before Thursday’s preseason finale, putting an end to the battle between him and Elgton Jenkins. Neither player is in danger of being released, but that effectively locked in the only open starting job on the team (aside from inside linebacker, which is in flux due to injury).

The Packers need to clear 36 players from the active roster to get from 89 (after the Reggie Gilbert Trade) down to 53. Keep your browsers locked here as we update the list of cuts up until the 4:00 PM Saturday deadline.
