At halftime of the Green Bay Packers’ first preseason game, the green and gold lead the Houston Texans by the score of 14-10.
Green Bay struck first in the opening quarter thanks to their special teams. JK Scott’s booming punt struck Texans returner Keke Coutee in the shoulder, and Equanimeous St. Brown was able to haul in the football over the goal line for the opening touchdown of the preseason. Houston came back and tied the game in the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown run by Demarea Crockett, but DeShone Kizer found Darrius Shepherd for a 14-yard touchdown pass to give the Packers the lead back at 14-7. Houston then added a 49-yard field goal at the end of the half to bring the score to 14-10.
The Packers forced three turnovers in the first half: an interception by Ka’Dar Hollman, a fumble forced by Raven Greene, and the aforementioned muffed punt. Rookie linebacker Ty Summers is leading the way on defense for the Packers, recording a whopping nine total tackles.
