On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers host the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field. Ted “Grover” Glover of Daily Norseman kindly volunteered to answer our questions about the Vikings and pick the outcome of the game.
APC: Finally, it’s prediction time. Which team wins on Sunday and why?
Whew, tough call. If you believe that home field is worth three points, and the Packers are currently 2.5 point favorites, then these teams are about as evenly matched as they can be. If you’re a green Bay fan, there’s a heck of a lot to like with Mike Pettine’s defense, but from a Devil’s Advocate point of view, against the Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky either missed open receivers or flat out didn’t see them.
Other than Green Bay’s lone touchdown drive, Aaron Rodgers and the offense seemed out of sorts most of the night. Again, is it because the Packers offense struggled, or was it because the Bears defense is just that good? Green Bay faces another defense about as good as the Bears was, so I think we’ll have a more definitive answer to that late Sunday afternoon. I don’t think Rodgers is the insanely crazy good QB he was 4-5 years ago when he was the MVP, but he’s still one of the best QB’s in the game.
The Vikings defense matches up well the Packers offense, and I think Davante Adams is going to have a tough afternoon. If Rodgers can find Jimmy Graham or another wide receiver, they’ll have a good day. I do believe Green Bay’s defense is a lot better, but I don’t think they’re quite a dominant as we saw against the Bears.
I think the Vikings do just enough on both sides of the ball to win, and I think they’ll squeeze out a close win at the end. Call it 17-14.
We’d like to thank Ted for his time. Be sure to check out the rest of our Q&A session with Daily Norseman from earlier in the week as well as our Q&A session over there. As always, keep your internet machines tuned to Acme Packing Company this Sunday for our comprehensive game-day coverage of Vikings versus Packers.
