On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers face the Denver Broncos, an uncommon opponent with a familiar head coach. Joe Rowles of Mile High Report kindly volunteered to answer our questions about the Broncos and provide some insight into their strengths and weaknesses.

APC: Broncos general manager John Elway traded a fourth-round pick to bring in new starting quarterback Joe Flacco and spent a second-rounder on rookie signal-caller Drew Lock. How has the offense looked with Flacco under center, and do you expect Denver will start Lock once he returns off injured reserve?

One of the things that got lost in the national media coverage of the Flacco acquisition is how Joe’s best season as a pro came under Gary Kubiak back in 2014. The Scangarello system is a direct descendant of that. So far things have gone better than I dared hope.

Now the Broncos haven’t found success in the win-loss column, so I do believe Drew Lock remains an option. If Denver continues to slide towards a top 5 pick in the NFL draft I believe the coaching staff will seek to give the rookie a little time in order to see if the Broncos should chase the Justin Herbert’s and Jordan Love’s of the world.

We’d like to thank Joe. Be sure to check out the rest of our Q&A session with Mile High Report over the course of the week as well as our Q&A session over there.
