On Thursday night, the Green Bay Packers welcome the Philadelphia Eagles to Lambeau Field for their third home game in a row. Both teams enter the game banged up, both issuing long injury reports Monday and Tuesday. Thursday night games tend to be rough, so hopefully no one is added to these lists.
Offensively the Packers are healthy, with Jamaal Williams ready to play with a neck injury. The wide receiver corps is mostly healthy now that Darrius Shepherd and Allen Lazard are in; however, Jake Kumerow is questionable for the game, so expect to see more from those two.
The biggest concern for the Packers heading into Thursday is Za’Darius Smith. In Tuesday’s practice he suffered a knee injury, and it is serious enough to have him listed as questionable. Za’Darius Smith has been a leader on this defense and if he is not in the game it will be noticeable. Hopefully he will be ready to go come game time.
Aside from Za’Darius Smith, Kyler Fackrell is also listed as questionable. Luckily, most of the other players on the defensive side of the ball are not listed, which means the defense should be at full strength against an Eagles team who is looking to once again solidify themselves as contenders in the NFC.
As expected for the Eagles, DeSean Jackson is out again with an abdomen injury, which should make the night easier for the defensive backs. However, Alshon Jeffrey is not listed, which means he will play against the Packers. On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles will be without starting cornerback Ronald Darby and defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan. This is the second week in a row the Packers have faced a depleted secondary, and they need to take advantage of these opportunities on offensive and get in some rhythm.
