APC Conference Championship Picks: Home teams projected to advance to Super Bowl

Of course we’re hoping that the Packers beat the odds and pull an upset, but it’s tough to pick that to happen in this matchup.

We are mostly Green Bay Packers fans around here, of course, and the green and gold are the reason we do what we do at Acme Packing Company. However, on a day like today we largely try to be realistic about our fandom, as we make picks for the conference championship games.

Today, both home teams are favored by a touchdown or more. The line on the Tennessee Titans-Kansas City Chiefs game has dropped to seven points, while the San Francisco 49ers’ advantage over the Packers is up to 8 on the morning of the game.

And while we think that the Packers will make this evening’s game much more competitive than their first meeting with the 49ers this year — that awful 37-8 drubbing — it’s hard to pick Green Bay to win outright when San Francisco has looked like the more consistent and complete team all year.

Still, there is plenty of reason to believe that the Packers can pull the upset. Aaron Rodgers is heating up. The defense has been tremendous down the stretch. And the team is as healthy as it has ever been for a playoff run.

Can they win today? Of course. Playoff upsets happen all the time, as the Titans have shown in each of the first two rounds of this year’s postseason. But on the morning of the games, we’re expecting a Chiefs-49ers matchup in Miami for Super Bowl LIV.
