Packers-49ers NFC Championship: Adrian Amos out for the game with a pectoral injury

With Raven Greene sidelined despite recently being activated, the Packers are suddenly thin at safety

In a game where absolutely nothing has gone right for the Green Bay Packers, it somehow has gotten even worse.

Safety Adrian Amos was ruled out of the game shortly after the start of the second half due to a pectoral injury.

With newly activated from injured reserve Raven Green not suited up for today’s NFC Championship, the Packers will be very thin at a vital part of their secondary. The San Francisco 49ers are doing most of their damage on the ground so by the time the running back reaches the secondary the defense is already in pretty deep trouble.

A former Bears safety, Amos essentially swapped teams with former Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and has been an upgrade at the position in every sense of the word. He’s not a liability in coverage and even made a crucial interception in the opening win over the Bears.

Should the Packers find a way to claw back into this game, his presence in the defensive backfield will he missed and will likely be an area 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan will exploit.

Green Bay currently trails San Francisco 27-7 early in the third quarter.
