Today, the Green Bay Packers take center stage as Sunday of week six is upon us. The Packers get a fully nationwide broadcast today for their late afternoon kickoff against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a game that should be an excellent measuring stick for both teams.
But there are nine early games on the schedule today to whet your appetite for football before the old NFC Central rivalry rekindles. All three of the Packers’ NFC North rivals are in action early today, with the most intriguing game coming for the 4-1 Chicago Bears. Matt Nagy’s team heads to Carolina, where the Panthers are 3-0 since Christian McCaffrey’s injury. Former Bears running back Mike Davis is a big reason why, as he has averaged over 110 yards from scrimmage in those three games.
Meanwhile, the Vikings and Lions play other teams also in the cellars of their divisions. Minnesota hosts the 0-5 Atlanta Falcons, who just fired head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff. Detroit is actually in the same state as the Packers, playing in Jacksonville against the 1-4 Jaguars.
Arguably the best game in the early slate comes in the AFC North, however, where the Cleveland Browns look like a legitimate contender. At 4-1, they face the 4-0 Pittsburgh Steelers, who just saw a breakout four-touchdown game come from rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool. Then later on tonight it’s an NFC West matchup in prime time, with the 4-1 LA Rams heading up the California coast to play the 2-3 San Francisco 49ers.
Tune in for all the NFL action today and get ready for Packers-Buccaneers at 3:25 PM Central.
