Week 8 NFL Picks: APC expects Packers to pick up another game on Bears in NFC North

We see Chicago losing to the Saints on Sunday, helping the Packers to open up their lead in the division.

The Green Bay Packers head into week eight holding the top spot in the NFC playoff picture. Green Bay’s 5-1 record matches that of the NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks, but early tiebreakers are going the Packers’ way for now.

These two teams met in the Divisional Playoffs in January, with the Packers emerging as the victors, but they do not play this year during the regular season. As a result, there will be no head-to-head tiebreaker available to easily decide seeding should the two teams finish with the same record at the end of the year.

But to battle it out for home-field advantage come January, these two teams must of course win their divisions first. In the NFC North, the Packers now hold a half-game lead over the 5-2 Bears thanks to Chicago suffering a convincing defeat to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. And in week eight, the Packers look like they may be in prime position to pick up another game on Chicago.

Green Bay heads towards Sunday’s game against the Vikings as a 6.5-point favorite, while the Bears are 4.5-point home underdogs against the New Orleans Saints. In our picks for this week, Acme Packing Company sees the Packers’ lead expanding, with both favorites winning and the Bears dropping to 5-3 on the season.
