By the end of the day today, it is possible that the Green Bay Packers could clinch the NFC North. The Minnesota Vikings have lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today, giving the Packers a chance to clinch the 2020 division title by beating the Detroit Lions this afternoon. That would be a big step forward for the team in its hunt for the postseason as that result would of course clinch a playoff spot, but it would also ensure that the Packers would stay no worse than one game back of the top-seeded New Orleans Saints.
Green Bay heads into Ford Field today, however, to play a Lions team that has given Matt LaFleur and company early difficulties in each of the last three contests the two teams have played. The Packers have won all three, but had to come back from double-digit deficits each time.
Unlike the two games in 2019, however, which both ended on last-second go-ahead field goals by Mason Crosby, the Packers’ win in week two was a dominating one as they took control of the game in the second quarter and cruised to a 42-21 victory. Will Detroit get out to a similar early lead in the teams’ second and final meeting of 2020, or will Aaron Rodgers and company keep up their recent torrid pace on offense?
