Two players didn’t participate in practice today as the Green Bay Packers prepare to take on the Carolina Panthers in a rare Saturday matchup.
Tight end Jace Sternberger remains out of the lineup as he works through the concussion protocol. This makes at least two noteworthy concussions for Sternberger, who also suffered one during his rookie training camp and was sidelined for some time.
Malik Taylor, meanwhile, was the second non-participant in today’s session. His absence could continue to complicate the Packers’ kickoff return plans. With Tyler Ervin out, Tavon Austin currently restricted to punt returns, and Taylor out of the lineup on Sunday, the Packers turned to Jamaal Williams to return kicks against the Detroit Lions. He returned one kick for 20 yards.
11 Packers were listed as limited participants today, including Rashan Gary, Kevin King, and Allen Lazard, but it’s not clear to what extent any of their ailments are serious, especially given the nontraditional schedule this week and the fact that these practice designations are estimates. Stay tuned for more updates as the week goes on.
