The Green Bay Packers are about as healthy as an NFL team can get heading into their week 15 game with the Carolina Panthers on Saturday evening. With 51 players active on the 53-man roster, the Packers had to designate five as gameday inactives, and three of the five are healthy scratches with the other two being expected absences down the depth chart.
Only guard Simon Stepaniak and tight end Jace Sternberger are injury-related inactives for Green Bay. Sternberger will sit out as he remains in the concussion protocol while Stepaniak remains out as he works to get back into football shape after rehabbing the ACL he tore last December. Otherwise, the remaining three players — quarterback Jordan Love, cornerback Josh Jackson, and edge rusher Jonathan Garvin — are healthy scratches tonight.
The Panterhs are not nearly as lucky. Running back Christian McCaffrey is indeed out tonight, after being listed as doubtful on the team’s final injury report. Joining him on the inactive list is left tackle Russell Okung, who is also out with an injury.
Carolina’s five remaining inactives are healthy scratches: OG Dennis Daley, QB Will Grier, CB Natrell Jamerson (a former Packer and Wisconsin Badger), DE Austin Larkin, and OT Aaron Monteiro.
