It’s almost here. The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears meet on Sunday afternoon with massive playoff implications on the line for both teams. Green Bay can clinch the NFC’s sole playoff bye and home-field advantage with a victory, while the Bears need a win to ensure themselves of a Wild Card playoff spot.
Both teams have routes to get what they want without a win, but each side would much rather take care of their own business rather than rely on help from other teams to make their way in. With all of the other relevant games kicking off at the same time as this contest, there will be no opportunity to learn about the other results in advance.
Thus, 2020’s season finale could feel much like the games in 2013 or 2010, other years when the two teams also met with massive playoff implications. Green Bay won both of those games to lock up their own playoff appearances in those seasons, winning the division with the win in 2013 and clinching the sixth and final seed in 2010 en route to Super Bowl XLV. With plenty on the line for each team, Sunday’s game should be a great one and as a result it will be broadcast across large swaths of the country.
