Super Bowl LIV Game Thread: Follow along with 49ers-Chiefs

Join us here for the final game of the NFL season.

NFL: Super Bowl LIV-City Views Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

It’s finally here — after two weeks of incessant buildup and hype, Super Bowl LIV is upon us.

Of course, Green Bay Packers fans are disappointed that their team is not participating. A frustrating loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game two weeks ago sent Kyle Shanahan’s team to Miami for tonight’s game, while the Packers went home for the season.

(A trio of Packers got a trip to Florida, but for the Pro Bowl instead, hardly a desirable consolation prize.)

Instead, it is the 49ers facing the Kansas City Chiefs in an intriguing matchup to settle the championship for the 2019 season. San Francisco’s strength all season has been defense and the running game, while the Chiefs boast one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the game in Patrick Mahomes. Can the 49ers’ pass rush get to Mahomes quickly enough to disrupt his timing and throws? Or will Mahomes

Getting less attention are the matchups when the 49ers have the football. But their running game has been stellar, carrying them to 17-point victories in each of their two postseason games while their quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, has thrown fewer than 20 passes in both contests. In fact, he has thrown just eight passes combined in the second halves of the two games, while the running game racked up at least 100 yards after halftime of each game.

Will the explosive passing game or the explosive running game lead its team to victory today? Tune in to find out and join APC as we follow along with the game.
