After two seasons, Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander appears to be headed down the road to superstardom.
It’s up to new secondary coach Jerry Gray to help him ultimately reach that destination.
During his long career, Gray has worked with and developed players such as DeAngelo Hall, Xavier Rhodes, Antoine Winfield and Nate Clements. The Packers saw firsthand what Gray did with Winfield and Rhodes in Minnesota.
Now the veteran coach gets a player in Alexander that displays not just great ability but also tremendous exuberance. Gray’s challenge will be harnessing that energy into some truly spectacular results.
An area Alexander could use some improvement in is in generating turnovers. He led the league in dropped interceptions last year and even though he had two, can you imagine how he’d be viewed around the league right now if he had completed more?
In a Zoom call with media yesterday, Gray said he asked Alexander “where he wants to go?” If the player responds to that challenge with the same passion he’s shown so far in his career, Packers fans could be in for something really special from number 23 this season.
Now for today’s curds.
