Late last week, the Green Bay Packers hosted former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Malik Turner on a free agent visit. Presumably the visit went well, because on Tuesday, the team is reportedly signing Turner to a contract for the 2020 season.
NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero was first on the news. The signing did not appear on Tuesday’s transaction wire, so it will likely become official on Wednesday along with a matching move to free up a spot on the active roster.
Turner effectively confirmed the signing with a tweet from his personal account:
Year 3 GO PACK GO!
— Malik Turner (@leekleek217) August 11, 2020
Like most of the other wideouts on the Packers’ roster, Turner is a big body, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing in at just over 200 pounds. Interestingly, this will be Turner’s second trip to Green Bay; the Packers invited him for a tryout during their 2018 minicamp, but did not sign him at the time, and he instead landed with Seattle later that summer.
Turner becomes the second wide receiver to come to Green Bay in as many days, as the team claimed former Lions wideout Travis Fulgham off waivers on Monday.
Also on Tuesday, former Packers defensive tackle Mike Daniels reportedly signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.
