It’s official — final cuts are only a week away. At 3:00 PM Central Time next Saturday, NFL teams will have to reduce their rosters down from 80 players to 53, going through the painful process of whittling the active list and informing 27 players of their releases.
That process is even more challenging than usual this year. With preseason games canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and no chance to see players in truly live game action, teams will be projecting more than usual based on practice reps and simulated situations. That should make for an interesting cut-down weekend, but it also maximizes the importance of every individual practice session and snap.
Today, the Green Bay Packers take the field once again for practice, and beat writers will be there to tell fans all about it and to provide updates on press availability via Zoom afterwards. Keep it here as we track the reports of practice and the pressers in real time throughout the day.
