It’s officially here. The first NFL Sunday of the 2020 season has arrived, thanks in large part to training camp protocols and the efforts of players, coaches, staff, and media around the league to be careful amid the coronavirus pandemic.
It has been a long road to get to this point, but one that the NFL has largely been successful walking, with very few confirmed cases of COVID-19 since players reported to team facilities for the first time about six weeks ago. Today is an impressive day for that reason, as 26 teams will take the field, albeit at stadiums that have few or no fans in attendance.
The Green Bay Packers kick off 2020 with a divisional tilt, making the trip west to play the Minnesota Vikings. With no preseason games to watch, this team and all of the 31 others will be flying a bit blind in terms of personnel, so hopefully they can kick off the rust and put up a similar performance to the one they posted last December 23rd in the same venue.
