On Sunday evening, the Green Bay Packers officially announced that they have started filling up their practice squad. The team revealed the first 14 players signed to the 16-man squad, ten of which had been reported in the media during the day.

The group consists of the following players:

  • RB Demarea Crockett
  • WR Reggie Begelton
  • WR Darrius Shepherd
  • TE John Lovett
  • C Jake Hanson
  • OL Alex Light
  • G Zack Johnson
  • DL Delontae Scott
  • DL Willington Previlon
  • LB Krys Barnes
  • LB Tipa Galeai
  • LB Greg Roberts
  • S Henry Black
  • CB Stanford Samuels III

Hanson, Johnson, Roberts, and Black are the new names on the list that had not previously been reported.

Hanson was the only member of the Packers’ 2020 draft class to be released on Saturday in the team’s final cuts to reach a 53-man roster, but the sixth-round pick will remain in the organization.

The Packers also made two position changes official with this announcement. Delontae Scott was previously listed as a linebacker, while the team classified John Lovett as a fullback during training camp.

Additionally, the group of 14 contains eight first-year professionals: Barnes, Hanson, Johnson, Scott, Previlon, Galeai, Black, and Samuels. All but Hanson signed with the Packers as undrafted free agents following the 2020 NFL Draft.

The team has two more spots to fill on the practice squad. Media reports indicate that the team intends to sign wide receiver Robert Foster and linebacker De’Jon Harris, who spent training cam with the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots, respectively. Those signings likely cannot become official until the players arrive in Green Bay and fulfill any COVID-19 protocols associated with changing teams. Foster recorded over 500 receiving yards for the Bills in 2018 as an undrafted rookie.

Editor’s note: This article initially indicated that Dexter Williams, not Demarea Crockett, was the running back signed to the practice squad and accidentally omitted Krys Barnes from the list. Williams has in fact not signed yet but is expected to do so after returning home for the birth of his first child. This may affect the reported signings of the two outside players to the squad.
