The stage is nearly set. The Green Bay Packers watched and waited on Saturday as the Wild Card teams defeated division winners in both NFC playoff games. The Los Angeles Rams’ victory over the Seattle Seahawks in the early afternoon means that the Packers will play a team seeded no better than sixth in this year’s playoff picture in next week’s Divisional Round.
However, one team, the seventh-seeded Chicago Bears, could throw the whole NFC bracket into disarray. A Bears win over the New Orleans Saints would mean that the Wild Card teams would have swept the division winners, sending Tampa Bay to the second round with a home game against the Rams. Chicago would then come to Lambeau Field next week for just the third postseason meeting in football’s most-played rivalry.
However, a Saints win makes things a little more sane, as they — the second seed — would host Tampa with the Rams heading to Lambeau next weekend.
Meanwhile, the AFC picture will take shape today as well with two of the three games taking place in that conference. All we know so far is that the Chiefs and Bills will host the divisional games, but the opponents for those contests are up in the air based on today’s results.
Join us throughout the day as we follow along with all of the action from Wild Card Sunday!
