NFL Divisional Playoff Schedule 2021: Packers-Rams to kick on Saturday afternoon

The schedule is fully finalized for the NFL’s Divisional Playoff round next weekend as eight teams remain in the quest for a championship in Super Bowl LV. For the first time since 2007, the Green Bay Packers will host the opening game of the second round of the postseason, as the sixth-seeded Los Angeles Rams will come to town for a Saturday afternoon kickoff.

The Packers’ matchup with the Rams will be just the third postseason meeting in the two franchise’s shared history. Interestingly, all three games are in the Divisional Round; the Packers won the first matchup in 1967 en route to a victory in Super Bowl II, while the Rams won in 2001 before falling to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI.

That is the only repeat playoff matchup next weekend, however, as all of the other three games will feature matchups that have never taken place in the postseason before. By beating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, the Cleveland Browns earn a trip to play the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday afternoon. That result also sent the Baltimore Ravens to Buffalo, where they will play the Bills in the Saturday night game.

The final game of Wild Card weekend pits NFC South rivals as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will travel to the Bayou to play the New Orleans Saints. This is the two teams’ first postseason meeting, though the Saints lead 37-21 in the teams’ regular season meetings.
