College Football Week 5 Schedule: 2 top-10 games in Notre Dame-Cincinnati & Arkansas-Georgia

The Bearcats are off to a surprising start and are ranked 7th in the Coaches’ Poll. Can they beat their old coach Brian Kelly in a big road test in South Bend?

Practically every matchup between top-10 teams in college football involves at least one squad from a power conference. Today on Saturday in week five, we have the rare exception to that rule.

That is because the sport’s most prestigious independent program squares off with a surprising top-ten team from the American Athletic Conference. Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly coached at the University of Cincinnati before taking the job in South Bend, and his old employer visits today in one of the headlining games of the weekend. Both teams come fresh off victories over Big Ten schools. The Fighting Irish beat Wisconsin at Soldier Field last Saturday, while the Bearcats defeated the Indiana Hoosiers 38-24.

That game kicks off a little bit after a surprisingly exciting SEC matchup in the early time slot. This cross-division matchup pits the second-ranked Georgia Bulldogs against the surprising #8 Arkansas Razorbacks in a battle of unbeaten teams.

Finally, a second SEC game narrowly misses the top-10 matchup cutoff, as top-ranked Alabama hosts #12 Ole Miss on CBS.

Join us here throughout the day as we discuss all the action taking place around college football.
