With the 2020 college football season being thrown into chaos due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many out-of-conference rivalry games were cast aside. One such game involved historical rivals USC and Notre Dame, a contest that has featured plenty of intrigue in its history, despite the Trojans recently seeing the program run into challenges.
Since last year’s game in Los Angeles was canceled, the two teams renew their rivalry in South Bend for the second straight meeting. The 2019 contest was a tight one, as Notre Dame pulled off a 30-27 victory. This year’s game is one of the more interesting games on the week 8 Saturday schedule if only for the rivalry factor, with the Irish looking to climb back into the top ten of the polls.
Meanwhile, the Big Ten saw one of its top ten teams drop out this week after a shocking loss last Saturday. Purdue defeated then-#2 Iowa in Iowa City, knocking the Hawkeyes down to 11th in the polls. Iowa has a bye this week, but three of the Big Ten’s four top-ten teams are in action today. #5 Michigan even gets the Big Noon Saturday treatment on FOX for their home game against Northwestern, though that should provide an indication of the lack of high-profile games on this week.
Here’s your schedule for Week 8 Saturday!
