Week 8 NFL Picks: Can Packers overcome being 5.5-point underdogs in Arizona?

With all of their injuries, on a short week, and on the road, the Cardinals are favored by a little less than a touchdown. Can Green Bay overcome that disadvantage and find a way to knock off the NFL’s only remaining unbeaten team?

On a normal week of rest, an Aaron Rodgers vs. Kyler Murray quarterback duel would be elite television, the kind of matchup that the NFL would love to put in its premier Sunday Night Football timeslot. Instead, the league’s scheduling gurus decided back in April that the week eight matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals would be played on Thursday Night Football.

In doing so, the schedule-makers seemingly robbed NFL fans of seeing these two teams at full strength, as both carry walking wounded into tonight’s game. Between short rest, COVID issues, and players uncertain to come back off injured reserve, these two teams will both be shorthanded to some extent.

Still, it is a prime time game with elite quarterbacks on both sides, which should draw plenty of eyeballs anyway. At present, the line is skewing towards the Cardinals, and for good reason; Arizona is the only remaining unbeaten team in the NFL, they are playing at home, and they are at least somewhat healthier than the Packers are.

But can the Packers overcome being underdogs by a little less than a touchdown, which is what our friends over at DraftKings Sportsbook are predicting? Check out our picks below to see where we land on that question and give us your predictions as well.
