It may be a short week for the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals, but the NFL’s schedule doesn’t care. That means it’s about time for kickoff between the two teams as they start off the league’s week 8 schedule with a bang on Thursday Night Football.
These two teams enter this game with a combined 13-1 record, with the Cardinals remaining unbeaten and the Packers riding a six-game winning streak. Both squads are missing All-Pro caliber players at multiple positions, with the Cardinals without J.J. Watt and Rodney Hudson and the Packers missing Davante Adams, David Bakhtiari, Jaire Alexander, and Za’Darius Smith.
The Packers offense will need to diversify itself a bit with Adams unavailable due to COVID-19. Adams has eaten up a huge portion of the team’s pass targets this season, but last week against Washington he only saw seven passes thrown his way as the team got more receivers into the act. Unfortunately, the team’s second-most targeted player in that game, Allen Lazard, is also out as a result of being an unvaccinated close contact of Adams’.
