College Football Week 9: MSU-UM & Penn State-Ohio State top Saturday schedule

Conference rivalries continue to dominate the calendar on Halloween weekend.

Halloween weekend often makes for some extra fun in college football. Student sections don costumes and marching bands go all-out with halftime shows as the schedule begins to turn the corner towards the late portion of the season.

With that, conference rivalries begin to take center stage as well, and this weekend’s slate of games features plenty of those. Games like Florida-Georgia and Iowa-Wisconsin are entertaining for the rivalry factor alone, as both of those contests get renewed for new editions today. That Hawkeyes-Badgers game is one featuring a historic trophy, as Wisconsin will look to return the Heartland Trophy back to its sideline after spending the last year in Iowa City.

Then there are ranked rivalries taking place, such as Ole Miss-Auburn in the SEC West and Ohio State-Penn State in the Big Ten East. Each of those games sees teams in the top-20 squaring off in two of the premier games on this week’s schedule.

Oh, and there's also a little in-state rivalry game in Michigan taking place too. That's actually the biggest game between ranked teams, with the Wolverines and Spartans both sitting in the top ten.

Keep it here throughout this college football Saturday as we follow along with all of today’s action from around the country.
