Chiefs host Giants on Monday Night Football in last tune-up before Packers game

Green Bay gets a long week next week, while Kansas City has a short one. See if the Chiefs can get back to .500 six days before these two teams clash next Sunday afternoon.

In week 9 of the 2021 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers will travel to the edge of the great plains to play the Kansas City Chiefs after nine days of rest. Green Bay’s 24-21 victory over the Arizona Cardinals last Thursday gave them a 7-1 record and a position in the top spot in the NFC, and, importantly, the schedule affords them a substantial rest period to get ready for a big matchup with Patrick Mahomes and company.

The Chiefs, however, will be playing on a short week next Sunday, as their week 8 game comes this evening on Monday Night Football. Mahomes is expected to play tonight, having cleared concussion protocol after a big hit in last week’s loss to the Tennessee Titans. The Chiefs host the New York Giants this evening, another sub-.500 team but one that came in with far lower expectations than those placed on the two-time defending AFC champions.

Packers fans should tune in this evening with curiosity to see what areas the green and gold could exploit next week against Kansas City. Although the Chiefs’ offense still ranks among the league’s best in points and yards, they have committed the most turnovers in the NFL, with Mahomes responsible for a whopping nine interceptions and four fumbles. The Chiefs’ defense, meanwhile, ranks among the worse in the NFL in every notable category, sitting 27th or worse in points allowed, yards allowed, net yards per pass attempt, yards per rush, third down conversion rate, and red zone touchdown rate.

Thus, it’s entirely possible that a Giants team that is in the bottom half of the league in most every statistic could be able to keep tonight’s game close. Join us this evening as we follow along with tonight’s game and get a good look at Green Bay’s next opponents.
