NFL opening lines for Week 10: Aaron Rodgers’ COVID-19 situation resulting in delayed opening line

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson being uncertain for the game doesn’t help, either.

DraftKings Sportsbook has released the opening lines for 10 of the 14 NFL games in Week 10, but the Green Bay Packers’ matchup with the Seattle Seahawks is notably missing. The other three games feature teams that have either yet to play on Sunday Night Football, live at the time of the writing of this article, or Monday Night Football.

The reason for this is their quarterback situations. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is officially eligible to return to the field next week, following his stint on injured reserve for a finger injury. Against the Rams in Week 5, Wilson’s hand hit defensive tackle Aaron Donald, which resulted in “mallet finger” that needed surgery. Since then, he has yet to return to the field, but he has made it a point to show the world his recovery status by working out intensely in front of pre-game cameras.

Green Bay, meanwhile, was unable to start their quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Sunday against the Chiefs as he tested positive for COVID and was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday. He is eligible to come off of the list on Saturday, per the NFL’s protocols for unvaccinated players. He would need multiple negative tests for the virus before he can return, though, or else Jordan Love would suit up for the team in back-to-back weeks.

In the postgame presser following the Packers’ recent 13-7 loss, head coach Matt LaFleur did not outright say that Rodgers would start on Sunday, but said that he’ll “absolutely” start if he’s ready. He also used the phrase “We’ll see where we’re at at the end of the week” with the media multiple times.

It sounds like Rodgers and Wilson will likely suit up for their respective teams on Sunday, but with so many questions unanswered, it appears that books are a little hesitant to hang a line on the game.
