His big day was overshadowed by the breaking of the Aaron Rodgers story, but that doesn’t mean Eric Stokes isn’t fired up to be part of the Green Bay Packers.
With minicamp now behind him, Stokes made a strong first impression on his teammates and coaches. His speed and athleticism were on full display and a likely-pick six on a pass intended for Marquez Valdes-Scantling during practice made his teammates erupt into cheers.
Stil, Stokes is a rookie and with that comes multiple transitions to the NFL game the least of which is speed. Adapting to the quickness of professional players can lead to some doubt between the ears of even the top overall pick. Secondary coach Jerry Gray has tried to combat this with Stokes by simply telling him to “trust it” as in “trust what you’re seeing.”
Stokes will likely have his ups and downs but thankfully he has great resources in both Gray and the starter opposite him in Jaire Alexander. He has all the tools to succeed, it’s just a matter of putting it all together.
It’s cliche, but it’s also true.

It’s ridiculous to make rock solid opinions after OTAs and minicamp but the Packers drafted Stokes to be their CB2 opposite Alexander and ridiculously early returns show he can play the part at least competently as a rookie.
If you’re looking for someone to cut through all the noise and hyperbole of the Rodgers saga, there is no better go to than former team executive Andrew Brandt. That being said, brace yourself for another long month at least as it’s unlikely this standoff gets resolved before the end of July.

Adam Rank is an admitted Bears fan so there is plenty of schadenfreude in this piece but he also makes sure to praise the team’s roster as well. That said, a Groundhog Day scenario with Rodgers in 2022 would not be ideal for anyone.
NFL memo indicates Packers training camp could be without player bike rides again—FOX 11
Updated COVID protocols for the 2021 season would still forbid interaction between players and fans at training camp which means a second straight year of no bike riding at Packers camp.
